Welcome to The Breakaway Club

At The Breakaway Club, we offer an exciting, fresh and fun activity club for children and siblings exclusively attending Ballard School. Our aim is to provide a safe and engaging environment where kids can explore, play and learn.

Design technology, building, arts and crafts

Our Spring theme is Space Odyssey. Join us as we design, build and fly space shuttles by combining craft with science. Create your own life size alien and decorate it 'out of this world'. Our Design technology and art teachers will be on hand to help create a masterpiece.

Will you have enough energy to build a space den to relax in afterwards?

Selection of team and individual sports. Including FA football coached sessions

Join our FA football coach as you build skills and ball mastery and then take part in a football tournament.

Take part in one of our fun tennis games whilst building the skills to play tennis matches on our courts and for the younger children we will be playing short tennis.

Team games, 'capture the flag', obstacle courses, team challenges.

Can you be in the winning team or take home a winners prize?

Forest and bush craft skills within the beautiful Ballard grounds

Enjoy connecting with nature, discovering the wonderful world and sights around us and learning about small animals and their role in the world.

Join our Forest trail teachers as they teach through interactive and engaging educational games.

Yes, we offer a sibling discount of 10% off for each additional child enrolled in our programs.

Is The Breakaway Club open to the community?

For the 3rd and 4th April the club is exclusive to Ballard pupils and their siblings.

Is it all sport?

We are delighted to be delivering a diverse range of activities this Spring. With our 'Space Odyssey' theme the children will be making their own shuttles and then using science they will be shooting them up into the sky. Our craft teacher will be doing art and craft with the children and along with our helpers the children will be making a space fort to relax in afterwards.

We will also be taking the children out onto our nature trail within the school grounds where they will be hunting for creepy crawlies and learning about the nature surrounding us.

My children love football, will they be in the same team?

Teams will be age and ability dependent. Where possible we will try to have the kids engage with other age groups but in some instances this might not be appropriate. Our experienced FA Coach will ensure the children have a fun day and learn some great skills along the way.

Do I need to supply a lunch box?

Each child will need to bring their own lunch, snacks and drinks for the day. These must not contain nuts. We operate a nut free dining area.

We may bring in some fun snack times where we will make treats with the children. This might be fruit kebabs or chocolate wands. Upon enrollment you will be able to choose to 'opt out' if you would rather your child ate only food that you provide them with.

My child has a health contraindication, can they still come?

We would love your child to join us but it is paramount that we can keep them safe. We will ask you to declare any health concerns and medication that your child might require. Our Camp Director may contact you directly to discuss any concerns beforehand. We will have first aid trained staff working.

Will my child be safe?

Our teachers have all completed safeguarding courses and know the procedures in place to ensure your child is safe. Each teacher has a helper who is either a pupil at Ballard school and knows the values, or is a college pupil that will be DBS enhance checked.

“Mr Cornwell makes the classes really good fun, explains it in a way that I can complete the task and his enthusiasm makes me feel anything is possible!'
